Job Description
We are seeking an innovative, meticulous, and dedicated Food Technologist to join our vibrant research and development team at our Murambinda facility. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept to commercialization, for our diverse range of food products. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute research and development activities for new food products and product line extensions, overseeing the process from concept generation to successful commercialization.
- Rigorously optimize existing product formulations and processing methods to consistently enhance quality, improve nutritional value, reduce operational costs, and boost overall production efficiency.
- Ensure all products strictly comply with national and international food safety regulations, adhere to stringent quality standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO 22000), and meet internal specifications.
- Design, conduct, and interpret results from sensory evaluations and shelf-life studies, utilizing findings to drive product improvements and innovation.
- Collaborate closely and effectively with cross-functional teams, including production, marketing, and sales, to facilitate seamless product launches and proactively address any technical challenges that arise.
- Manage raw material specifications, oversee supplier quality assurance programs, and meticulously handle ingredient approval processes to maintain high standards.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, detailed product specifications, and all necessary regulatory documentation with precision and accuracy.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and scientific advancements in food science and technology to ensure our products remain competitive and innovative.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience as a Food Technologist in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of food chemistry, microbiology, and processing techniques.
- Proficiency in food safety management systems (e.g., HACCP, ISO 22000).
- Proven ability to conduct R&D, pilot plant trials, and scale-up production.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Food Science or a related discipline.
- Experience with sensory analysis methodologies and statistical interpretation.
- Knowledge of Zimbabwean food regulations and standards.
