Job Description
Are you a skilled, safety-conscious, and highly motivated Forklift Operator looking for a challenging role in a fast-paced environment? GIG Logistics is seeking a dedicated and experienced Forklift Operator to join our dynamic warehouse team in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and precise movement of goods, materials, and products within our state-of-the-art logistics facility. This position requires meticulous precision, unwavering attention to detail, and a strong, demonstrable commitment to workplace safety and operational excellence.
As a Forklift Operator, you will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth and uninterrupted flow of our supply chain, directly impacting our ability to deliver on our promise of timely and reliable service to our esteemed customers. You will be instrumental in the meticulous handling of diverse cargo, ranging from small packages to large, palletized shipments, ensuring their integrity and secure placement throughout the storage, retrieval, and loading processes. Your daily tasks will involve operating various types of forklifts, potentially including counterbalance and reach trucks, to expertly load, unload, stack, and retrieve materials, meticulously preparing them for dispatch or efficient long-term storage. Maintaining an organised, clean, and tidy warehouse environment, performing routine equipment checks, and immediately reporting any malfunctions or potential safety hazards will also be key aspects of your responsibilities. Your ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team, consistently adhere to strict safety protocols, and diligently maintain equipment will be paramount to your success and the overall efficiency of our operations. Key Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts safely and efficiently to move, stack, load, and unload materials and products within the warehouse.
- Perform daily pre-operation safety checks on forklifts and report any defects or maintenance needs promptly.
- Load and unload goods from vehicles, ensuring proper handling and placement to prevent damage.
- Organize and stack materials in designated areas according to warehouse layout and safety guidelines.
- Pick and prepare orders for shipping, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.
- Assist with inventory management, including counting and tracking stock levels.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment within the warehouse.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as relevant traffic and operating regulations.
Required Skills
- Valid forklift operator certification/license.
- Proven experience operating various types of forklifts (e.g., counterbalance, reach trucks).
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and practices.
- Ability to perform routine equipment maintenance checks.
- Excellent spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling goods.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE).
- Previous experience in a logistics, supply chain, or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS).
- First Aid and basic fire safety training.
- Experience with other warehouse equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, order pickers).
