Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled, safety-conscious, and experienced Forklift Operator to join our dynamic warehouse team located in Ngoma, Huye District. As a key member of our logistics and supply chain operations, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe movement of goods within our extensive warehouse and production facilities. This critical role involves operating various types of forklifts, including counterbalance and potentially reach trucks, to precisely load, unload, stack, and retrieve a wide range of products and materials. Your attention to detail will be crucial in ensuring inventory accuracy and strict adherence to established inventory management protocols. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining an organized, clean, and highly efficient warehouse environment, contributing directly to our operational excellence, product integrity, and timely distribution across Rwanda. We are looking for an individual who is not only proficient in advanced forklift operation but also possesses an unwavering commitment to workplace safety, thrives in a collaborative team setting, and actively seeks continuous improvement opportunities. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate various forklift types (e.g., counterbalance, potentially reach trucks) to move, stack, and retrieve materials and finished products.
- Execute the loading and unloading of trucks and containers with raw materials, packaging components, and finished goods, ensuring proper documentation.
- Perform daily pre-shift inspections of forklifts and other material handling equipment, diligently reporting any mechanical defects, malfunctions, or safety concerns immediately.
- Maintain accurate inventory records by meticulously scanning and documenting all material movements using our Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Ensure proper stacking, storage, and rotation of products in designated areas, strictly adhering to safety standards, space utilization guidelines, and FIFO principles.
- Assist in general warehouse duties, including but not limited to order picking, careful packing, and maintaining a consistently clean and highly organized work environment.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, operational procedures, and relevant national and international regulations.
- Actively participate in scheduled inventory counts and reconciliation efforts to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Collaborate effectively with warehouse supervisors, team leads, and fellow team members to optimize workflow, resolve issues, and collectively achieve operational targets.
- Identify and report any potential hazards or unsafe working conditions within the warehouse.
Required Skills
- Valid Forklift Operator certification (or equivalent official license) recognized in Rwanda.
- Minimum of 24 months (2 years) of verifiable, hands-on experience operating forklifts in a busy warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment.
- Proven ability to safely and efficiently operate counterbalance forklifts; experience with reach trucks is highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding and practical application of warehouse safety procedures and best practices.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for accurate inventory tracking, record-keeping, and documentation.
- Good physical condition, including the ability to lift up to 25 kg and maintain stamina for extended periods.
- Excellent attention to detail, precision, and accuracy in all tasks.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in Kinyarwanda; basic proficiency in English is a significant plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or similar inventory control software.
- Familiarity with Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) warehouse operations and logistics.
- Knowledge of proper handling procedures for a variety of goods, including fragile or perishable items.
- Additional certifications for operating other material handling equipment.
- A proven track record of maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant workspace.
