Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on all types of forklifts (diesel, electric, LPG) in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company schedules.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues using appropriate diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Execute timely and effective repairs, including engine overhaul, transmission repair, brake system maintenance, and mast assembly adjustments.
  • Conduct thorough safety inspections and functional tests on forklifts to ensure compliance with all safety regulations and operational standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used and hours expended.
  • Order and manage spare parts inventory, ensuring critical components are readily available for repairs.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to forklift operators regarding proper usage and basic maintenance practices.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout protocols.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to schedule maintenance and minimize disruption to production schedules.
  • Continuously update knowledge on new forklift technologies and maintenance best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Forklift Technician or similar role in an industrial or heavy equipment environment.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Ability to use diagnostic equipment and specialized tools effectively.
  • Valid Class 2 driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Excellent understanding of safety protocols and procedures related to heavy machinery maintenance.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for technical reporting and collaboration.
  • Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects and work in various conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant trade certification or diploma in Diesel Plant Fitting, Automotive Mechanics, or a related field.
  • Experience with specific forklift brands common in industrial settings (e.g., Toyota, Hyster, Caterpillar, Komatsu).
  • Familiarity with computer-based diagnostic software for modern forklift systems.
  • Forklift operator certification (advantageous).
  • First Aid and Fire Fighting certification.
