Zimasco, a prominent ferrochrome producer with a rich history and commitment to operational excellence, is seeking a dedicated Forklift Technician to join our dynamic team in Kwekwe. This is a critical role responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of our extensive fleet of forklifts, essential to our smelting and processing operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on all types of forklifts (diesel, electric, LPG) in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company schedules.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues using appropriate diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Execute timely and effective repairs, including engine overhaul, transmission repair, brake system maintenance, and mast assembly adjustments.
- Conduct thorough safety inspections and functional tests on forklifts to ensure compliance with all safety regulations and operational standards.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used and hours expended.
- Order and manage spare parts inventory, ensuring critical components are readily available for repairs.
- Provide technical guidance and support to forklift operators regarding proper usage and basic maintenance practices.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout protocols.
- Collaborate with the operations team to schedule maintenance and minimize disruption to production schedules.
- Continuously update knowledge on new forklift technologies and maintenance best practices.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Forklift Technician or similar role in an industrial or heavy equipment environment.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment and specialized tools effectively.
- Valid Class 2 driver's license with clean driving record.
- Excellent understanding of safety protocols and procedures related to heavy machinery maintenance.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for technical reporting and collaboration.
- Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects and work in various conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant trade certification or diploma in Diesel Plant Fitting, Automotive Mechanics, or a related field.
- Experience with specific forklift brands common in industrial settings (e.g., Toyota, Hyster, Caterpillar, Komatsu).
- Familiarity with computer-based diagnostic software for modern forklift systems.
- Forklift operator certification (advantageous).
- First Aid and Fire Fighting certification.
