Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure consistency in style, tone, and formatting across all materials, adhering strictly to The Lesotho Times' editorial guidelines and style guide.
  • Verify the accuracy of names, dates, places, and other factual information.
  • Check for typographical errors, word omissions, repetitions, and awkward phrasing.
  • Provide constructive feedback and suggest improvements for clarity, conciseness, and overall readability without altering the original meaning.
  • Collaborate effectively with editors and writers to clarify queries and resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage multiple proofreading assignments efficiently, prioritizing tasks to meet tight publication deadlines.
  • Maintain an excellent understanding of current events, particularly those relevant to Lesotho and the broader region.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax.
  • Proven experience as a professional proofreader, copy editor, or similar role.
