Job Description
Are you a skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Operator seeking a challenging role in a dynamic agricultural and manufacturing environment? Hippo Valley Estates Limited is looking for a dedicated Full-Time Forklift Operator to join our logistics and warehousing team in Chiredzi. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of goods, materials, and products within our expansive facilities. This includes loading and unloading delivery vehicles, stacking and organizing inventory in designated storage areas, and ensuring that all handling procedures comply with our stringent safety regulations. Your keen eye for detail and commitment to operational excellence will be vital in maintaining our high standards of material flow and inventory management. You will work as part of a collaborative team, contributing directly to the smooth operation of our supply chain, from raw materials to finished sugar products. Key Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts safely and efficiently to load, unload, stack, and move materials within the warehouse and production areas.
- Perform daily pre-operation safety checks on forklifts and report any defects or maintenance needs promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as occupational health and safety regulations.
- Ensure accurate documentation of material movements, including receiving, storing, and dispatching.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure smooth material flow and operational efficiency.
- Participate in inventory counts and help to reconcile discrepancies as needed.
- Safely transport materials to and from designated storage areas, production lines, and loading docks.
- Handle fragile or sensitive materials with extreme care to prevent damage.
- Follow all instructions from supervisors and contribute positively to team goals.
Required Skills
- Valid Forklift Operator certification (e.g., Class 3, 4, 5)
- Proven experience in operating various types of forklifts (e.g., counterbalance, reach truck)
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and practices
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in material handling
- Good physical condition and ability to lift heavy objects when required
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Forklift Operator in a large-scale agricultural or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and basic record-keeping.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor forklift troubleshooting.
- Experience with different types of material handling equipment beyond forklifts.
