Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic imaging procedures including X-rays, Ultrasounds, and potentially CT scans, ensuring high-quality images for accurate diagnosis.
- Position patients correctly and safely for all imaging procedures, explaining the process clearly and addressing any concerns.
- Adhere strictly to radiation safety protocols (ALARA principle) to protect patients and staff.
- Operate and maintain imaging equipment, performing routine quality checks and troubleshooting minor issues.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including imaging requests, procedures performed, and radiation dose information.
- Collaborate effectively with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide compassionate and patient-centered care, ensuring comfort and privacy during procedures.
- Assist in the training and supervision of junior radiographers or students, as required.
- Participate in continuous professional development and maintain up-to-date knowledge of imaging technologies and best practices.
- Ensure a clean, organized, and safe working environment within the imaging department.
Required Skills
- Diploma or Degree in Radiography or Medical Imaging Sciences from a recognized institution.
- Valid practicing license from the Radiation Protection Board of Kenya or equivalent regulatory body.
- Proficiency in operating X-ray and Ultrasound equipment.
- Strong understanding of radiation safety principles and protocols.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient-first approach.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy in image acquisition and documentation.
- Proficient in basic computer applications for patient record management.
