Job Description

Are you a dynamic and passionate educator with a flair for engaging diverse audiences? KEMRI Wellcome Trust Research Programme is seeking a highly motivated Full-Time Training Facilitator to join our dedicated team in Kilifi. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in enhancing the skills and knowledge of our staff, research teams, community health workers, and partners through expertly designed and delivered training programs. You will contribute significantly to our mission of strengthening research capacity and ensuring the effective dissemination of critical health information across various platforms.

As a Training Facilitator at KEMRI Wellcome Trust Research Programme, you will be at the heart of our capacity-building efforts. You will collaborate closely with various research units, project managers, and subject matter experts to identify specific training needs and develop targeted learning interventions. Your responsibilities will span the full training lifecycle, from conducting thorough training needs assessments, designing comprehensive and culturally appropriate curriculum materials, to delivering engaging workshops, seminars, and practical sessions. Key Responsibilities

  • Adapt training content and delivery methods to suit different learning styles and cultural contexts.
  • Facilitate group discussions, practical exercises, and problem-solving activities.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through pre/post assessments, feedback surveys, and performance metrics.
  • Provide constructive feedback to participants and monitor their progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of all training activities, attendance, and outcomes.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on training effectiveness and recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and relevance of training content.
  • Stay updated on best practices in adult learning, instructional design, and relevant subject areas.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of an organizational learning strategy.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a training facilitator or similar role.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design.
  • Ability to develop engaging and effective training materials.
  • Proficiency in using presentation software and other training tools.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and individuals.
  • Fluency in English and Swahili, both written and spoken.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resources, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Certification in Training and Assessment (e.g., TOT).
  • Experience working in a research, healthcare, or NGO environment.
  • Familiarity with blended learning approaches and e-learning platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple training projects concurrently.
  • Experience in curriculum development and content creation for scientific or health-related topics.
