Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and experienced Gardener to join our facilities management team in Beau Bassin-Rose Hill. As our Landscaping and Compound Maintenance Specialist, you will be instrumental in maintaining the aesthetic appeal and health of various outdoor spaces, including corporate compounds, residential properties, and public areas. We are looking for an individual with a profound understanding of horticultural practices, a keen eye for design, and a proactive approach to garden and landscape care. You will be responsible for ensuring that all green spaces are impeccably maintained, reflect a high standard of presentation, and contribute positively to the overall environment. This role requires not just physical aptitude but also a creative mind capable of suggesting improvements and executing plans for sustainable and vibrant landscapes. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all aspects of garden and landscape maintenance, including planting, pruning, weeding, mulching, fertilizing, and pest control.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of gardening tools and equipment safely and effectively, ensuring they are in good working order.
  • Implement and manage irrigation systems to ensure optimal hydration for diverse plant species.
  • Design and execute minor landscaping projects, including the selection and placement of new plants, shrubs, and trees.
  • Monitor the health of plants and turf, identifying and addressing issues such as disease, pests, or nutrient deficiencies promptly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of all outdoor areas, including pathways, patios, and communal spaces.
  • Provide recommendations for landscape improvements, plant selections, and sustainable gardening practices.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations during daily operations.
  • Manage waste removal and composting efforts efficiently.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in gardening, landscaping, and compound maintenance.
  • Solid knowledge of horticulture, including plant identification, soil types, and pest/disease management.
  • Proficiency in operating various gardening machinery (e.g., mowers, trimmers, blowers).
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a passion for creating beautiful outdoor spaces.
  • Basic understanding of irrigation systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in horticulture, landscaping, or a related field.
  • Experience with sustainable gardening practices and native plant species.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and Creole.
