Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and experienced Gardener to join our facilities team in Quatre Bornes. This vital role is responsible for the comprehensive maintenance and enhancement of our outdoor landscaping and compound areas, ensuring they are always pristine, healthy, and aesthetically pleasing. You will be instrumental in creating and preserving a welcoming and inspiring environment for our employees and visitors alike. You will be responsible for everything from planting seasonal flowers to troubleshooting irrigation issues and implementing pest control measures. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform regular lawn maintenance, including mowing, edging, weeding, and fertilizing.
  • Plant, cultivate, prune, and maintain flowerbeds, shrubs, trees, and other ornamental plants.
  • Implement and manage irrigation schedules, ensuring efficient water usage and plant hydration.
  • Monitor plant health, identifying and treating diseases, pests, and other issues proactively.
  • Operate and maintain gardening tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of all outdoor areas, including pathways, patios, and general compound spaces.
  • Manage green waste removal and composting where applicable.
  • Assist with minor landscaping projects and enhancements as directed.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and environmental regulations.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or significant plant health concerns to the supervisor.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Gardener or Landscaper.
  • Solid knowledge of horticulture, plant care, and common plant diseases/pests.
  • Proficiency in operating various gardening tools and machinery (mowers, trimmers, blowers, etc.).
  • Understanding of irrigation systems and water management techniques.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate or diploma in Horticulture, Landscaping, or a related field.
  • Experience with local Mauritian flora and climate-specific gardening practices.
  • Basic knowledge of landscape design principles.
  • Valid driving license (manual transmission preferred).
