As our Gardener, you will be instrumental in ensuring the beauty, health, and upkeep of our diverse outdoor environments. Key Responsibilities
- Perform general gardening duties including planting, watering, fertilizing, weeding, pruning, and mulching of plants, shrubs, and trees.
- Maintain lawns through regular mowing, edging, aeration, and pest/disease control.
- Operate and maintain gardening equipment and tools safely and efficiently (e.g., mowers, trimmers, blowers, chainsaws).
- Monitor the health of plants, identify pests and diseases, and apply appropriate treatments.
- Manage irrigation systems, ensuring efficient water usage and proper hydration for all plant life.
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of all outdoor areas, including pathways, patios, and compound perimeters.
- Assist with landscaping projects, including design implementation, soil preparation, and installation of new features.
- Dispose of green waste and debris responsibly and in an environmentally friendly manner.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the supervisor promptly.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a gardener or landscaper, preferably in a commercial or institutional setting.
- Solid knowledge of horticulture, plant care, and maintenance techniques.
- Proficiency in operating gardening machinery and tools.
- Ability to identify common plant diseases and pests, and implement effective solutions.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to garden maintenance.
- Basic understanding of irrigation systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certification or diploma in Horticulture, Landscaping, or a related field.
- Familiarity with indigenous flora and fauna of Mauritius.
- Experience with sustainable gardening practices.
- Valid driving license (Mauritian Class 3 preferred).
