Key Responsibilities
- Perform general grounds maintenance including mowing, strimming, edging, weeding, and litter picking.
- Carry out planting, pruning, mulching, and care for shrubs, trees, flowers, and turf.
- Monitor plant health, identifying and treating pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies.
- Operate and maintain a variety of horticultural machinery and equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., mowers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers).
- Assist with the installation and maintenance of irrigation systems.
- Undertake seasonal tasks such as leaf clearance, gritting, and winter pruning.
- Support hard landscaping tasks including path maintenance, patio cleaning, and minor repairs.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation in all work areas and equipment storage.
- Communicate effectively with team members and clients regarding progress and issues.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of professional gardening or landscaping experience.
- Demonstrable knowledge of horticultural practices, plant identification, and soil care.
- Proficiency in operating various gardening machinery and hand tools.
- Strong physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures in a horticultural environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Horticulture, Landscaping, or a related field.
- PA1/PA6 Spraying Certificates.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- First Aid certification.
- Experience with irrigation system installation and maintenance.
