Job Description

We are seeking a vigilant, responsible, and customer-focused Gate Control Operator to join our dedicated team in Buff Bay, Portland. This full-time, on-site role is pivotal in maintaining the security and operational flow of our client’s premises. As the first point of contact for all visitors, employees, and deliveries, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the property, controlling access, and ensuring a professional and secure environment. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to act calmly and decisively under pressure. You will be responsible for meticulously recording all entries and exits, verifying credentials, monitoring surveillance equipment, and responding to any security incidents in accordance with established protocols. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and control the entry and exit of all personnel, vehicles, and materials through the main gate.
  • Verify identification, credentials, and authorization for all individuals and vehicles entering and exiting the premises.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed logs of all incoming and outgoing traffic, including timestamps, names, vehicle details, and purpose of visit.
  • Operate and monitor CCTV cameras and other electronic surveillance systems to detect and report suspicious activities.
  • Conduct routine security checks of vehicles and personnel as per company and client guidelines.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to alarms, security breaches, and emergency situations, coordinating with on-site security personnel or emergency services.
  • Provide clear directions and assistance to visitors while upholding a professional and courteous demeanor.
  • Ensure the gatehouse and surrounding area are kept clean, organized, and free from unauthorized access.
  • Enforce all site security rules and regulations diligently.
  • Prepare and submit daily activity reports, incident reports, and other necessary documentation.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to operate security equipment and technology (e.g., CCTV, access control systems).
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
  • Basic computer proficiency for data entry and record-keeping.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.
  • Physical fitness to perform duties, including standing for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a security, gate control, or customer service role.
  • A valid Private Security Guard's Licence issued by the Private Security Regulation Authority (PSRA).
  • Knowledge of basic first aid and emergency response procedures.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent qualification.
