Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB) is seeking a dedicated Gatekeeper – Entry and Security Specialist to join our facilities team in Port Louis. This entry-level role is crucial to maintaining the security and integrity of our premises, ensuring a safe and orderly environment for our employees, clients, and visitors. As a Gatekeeper, you will be the first point of contact for all individuals entering and exiting our designated facility, playing a vital role in access control and maintaining a secure perimeter. You will be responsible for meticulously monitoring entry points, verifying credentials, and enforcing established security protocols with professionalism and courtesy. This position requires an individual who is proactive, observant, and capable of responding calmly and effectively to various situations. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control access to premises, verifying identities and credentials of all individuals and vehicles entering and exiting the property.
- Operate and monitor security equipment such as CCTV systems, alarm panels, and access control technologies with precision.
- Enforce company security policies and procedures, ensuring compliance by all visitors, contractors, and staff.
- Conduct regular patrols of the assigned area, identifying and reporting any suspicious activities, potential security breaches, or unsafe conditions.
- Maintain accurate records of visitor logs, incident reports, and daily security activities, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and precise.
- Provide clear and concise directions and assistance to visitors and staff, maintaining a professional, helpful, and courteous demeanor.
- Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, or disturbances, following established protocols to ensure the safety and security of all.
- Coordinate with internal security teams, local law enforcement, and emergency services as required during incidents.
- Ensure the proper functioning of gates, barriers, and other physical security infrastructure, reporting any malfunctions immediately.
- Assist with package inspection and mail handling in accordance with strict security guidelines to prevent unauthorized items from entering the premises.
Required Skills
- Strong sense of responsibility and integrity with a high degree of trustworthiness
- Excellent observational skills and meticulous attention to detail
- Clear and effective verbal communication skills in both English and French
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping, email communication, and system monitoring

- Demonstrated commitment to upholding safety and security standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (even informal) in a security, gatekeeping, or customer service role is considered a significant advantage
- Possession of a High School Certificate (SC/HSC or equivalent)
- Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency response procedures
- A clean criminal record and ability to pass a thorough background check
- Possession of a valid Mauritian driving license (car/motorcycle) may be an asset for certain duties
