Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and vigilant Gatekeeper to join our security team at our Beau Bassin facility. As the first point of contact for all visitors, employees, and deliveries, you play a critical role in maintaining the security, safety, and operational efficiency of our premises. This isn’t just about opening and closing gates; it’s about being the watchful eyes and welcoming face of our establishment, ensuring only authorized personnel and vehicles gain entry, while providing a professional and courteous experience to all legitimate visitors.

Your primary responsibility will be to manage access control points, monitor security systems, and enforce company security policies with precision and professionalism. You will be instrumental in preventing unauthorized entry, reporting suspicious activities, and responding to security incidents as per established protocols. This role requires exceptional observational skills, clear communication, and the ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure. You will operate security equipment, maintain accurate logs, and collaborate closely with our internal security team and other departments to ensure a cohesive security framework. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and control access to the premises for employees, visitors, contractors, and vehicles.
  • Verify identification, issue visitor passes, and maintain accurate logbooks of all entries and exits.
  • Monitor CCTV cameras and other security systems to detect and report any unusual or suspicious activities.
  • Conduct regular patrols of designated areas to ensure the security of the facility and identify potential risks.
  • Respond promptly to alarms, security breaches, and emergency situations, following established procedures.
  • Enforce company security policies and procedures, including parking regulations and prohibited items.
  • Assist with traffic management within the premises, guiding vehicles and ensuring orderly flow.
  • Provide clear and concise directions and assistance to visitors, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
  • Prepare and submit detailed daily reports on activities, incidents, and observations.
  • Collaborate effectively with the security team, management, and other departments to ensure a secure environment.

Required Skills

  • Proven ability to operate security equipment (CCTV, access control systems)
  • Excellent observational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and French/Creole
  • High level of integrity, honesty, and professionalism
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations
  • Basic computer literacy for logging and reporting
  • Physical fitness and ability to stand for extended periods and conduct patrols

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a security, gatekeeper, or similar role.
  • Valid Mauritian driving license (manual car/motorcycle).
  • First Aid and Fire Safety certification.
  • Experience working in a corporate or industrial environment.
