Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations, diagnoses, and treatments for patients across various specialties.
- Order, interpret, and act upon diagnostic tests, including laboratory results, imaging, and specialist reports.
- Develop and implement individualized patient care plans, ensuring adherence to clinical guidelines and best practices.
- Prescribe medications and other therapies, monitoring patient response and adjusting treatments as necessary.
- Perform minor medical procedures and assist in emergency interventions as required.
- Collaborate effectively with specialist consultants, nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure integrated patient management.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential patient medical records.
- Educate patients and their families on their medical conditions, treatment options, and preventative health measures.
- Participate in ward rounds, clinical meetings, and continuous professional development activities.
- Adhere strictly to medical ethics, patient confidentiality, and hospital policies and procedures.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and patient safety protocols.
Required Skills
- Medical Doctor (MD/MBBS) degree from a recognized institution.
- Full registration with the Medical Council of Mauritius (or eligible for registration).
- Minimum of 2 years of post-internship clinical experience as a General Practitioner or Medical Officer in a hospital setting.
- Excellent clinical diagnostic and therapeutic skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and French (Mauritian Creole an advantage).
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems.
- Sound knowledge of medical ethics and patient safety protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification or specialization in General Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.
- Experience within a public health system or a large hospital environment.
