Key Responsibilities
- Perform general grounds keeping duties, including lawn mowing, trimming, weeding, and gardening.
- Assist with planting, watering, and maintaining flowerbeds, shrubs, and trees.
- Conduct snow removal and de-icing operations during winter months, ensuring pathways are clear and safe.
- Ensure pathways, sidewalks, and common areas are clean, safe, and free of debris, litter, and hazards.
- Operate and maintain various groundskeeping equipment and tools safely and efficiently, performing basic checks and cleaning.
- Assist with minor repairs and general maintenance tasks on property structures and fixtures as directed by supervisors.
- Support the preparation of grounds for special events, seasonal changes, or tenant move-ins/outs.
- Report any hazards, damage, equipment malfunctions, or maintenance issues promptly to supervision for resolution.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines, company policies, and environmental regulations at all times.
- Assist other team members with various projects as needed to maintain overall property standards and operational efficiency.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and ability to perform strenuous tasks for extended periods, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work effectively outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow).
- Basic knowledge of landscaping principles and grounds maintenance techniques.
- Familiarity with common groundskeeping tools and equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, shovels).
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive, observant approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to prioritize daily tasks efficiently.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record (preferred, but not strictly mandatory).
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent secondary education.
- Previous experience (at least 6 months) in a groundskeeping, landscaping, or general labor role.
- Familiarity with the safe operation of power tools such as lawnmowers, string trimmers, and snow blowers.
- First Aid and CPR certification (an asset).
- Knowledge of local plant life and pest control methods.
