This full-time, on-site role is essential to the successful execution of various projects within the construction and industrial services sectors. As a General Laborer, you will be a vital contributor, performing a wide range of tasks that support our skilled trades and ensure project efficiency and site safety. Key Responsibilities
- Perform general clean-up duties on job sites, including debris removal, sweeping, and maintaining organized work areas.
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment, transporting them manually or using basic material handling equipment.
- Assist skilled tradespeople (carpenters, electricians, plumbers, etc.) with various tasks as directed.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively under supervision.
- Prepare work sites by setting up scaffolding, barricades, and other safety equipment.
- Dig trenches, shovel earth, and perform other excavation tasks as required.
- Assist in the demolition of structures or parts of structures, adhering to safety protocols.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment, reporting any malfunctions or damage.
- Assist with the mixing and pouring of concrete, asphalt, and other materials.
- Support inventory management by assisting with receiving, storing, and issuing materials.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding tasks repeatedly.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) safely and regularly.
- Basic understanding of construction site safety practices and protocols.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a general labor role, especially within construction or industrial settings.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR.
- Familiarity with various hand and power tools common in construction.
- WHMIS certification.
