Job Description

Career.zycto is urgently seeking a highly motivated and reliable General Worker to join our client’s team, specifically within the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Nairobi. This is an immediate start position for individuals who are physically fit, possess a strong work ethic, and are ready to contribute to the daily operations of a unique and impactful environment. As a General Worker, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the facilities, ensuring cleanliness, assisting with various operational tasks, and supporting the broader team in their mission. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general cleaning and maintenance duties across designated areas, including offices, visitor facilities, and animal enclosures.
  • Assist with groundskeeping tasks such as weeding, sweeping, clearing pathways, and light landscaping.
  • Support the operational team with the loading, unloading, and movement of supplies and equipment.
  • Carry out basic repairs and upkeep of facilities under supervision, identifying and reporting any maintenance issues.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and operational procedures.
  • Assist animal keepers with non-direct animal care tasks such as preparing feed areas, cleaning equipment, and maintaining storage.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and supervisors to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Undertake any other ad-hoc duties as assigned to support the overall functioning of the Trust.

Required Skills

  • Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor, including lifting and carrying.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of cleaning techniques and safe use of tools.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Excellent communication skills in English or Swahili.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a general labor, maintenance, or hospitality role.
  • Familiarity with working in an outdoor environment or conservation area.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Valid driving license (Class BCE or similar) is an added advantage.
