As a Google Cloud Engineer, you will be at the forefront of designing, implementing, and managing robust, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure on GCP. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, data scientists, and operations specialists, to build and optimize cloud-native applications and services. Your day-to-day will involve everything from infrastructure-as-code deployments to performance monitoring, security hardening, and cost optimization. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage scalable, high-availability, and secure infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or Deployment Manager.
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments and infrastructure provisioning.
- Monitor GCP environments for performance, security, and cost optimization, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure cloud best practices are followed and cloud-native solutions are effectively utilized.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to GCP services and applications.
- Stay current with new GCP services, features, and best practices, evaluating and recommending their adoption where appropriate.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services (e.g., Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, VPC, IAM, Cloud Functions, BigQuery).
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, preferably Terraform.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts in a cloud environment (VPCs, VPNs, Load Balancers, Firewalls).
- Experience with CI/CD tools and practices (e.g., Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Bash, Go).
- Familiarity with containerization technologies, particularly Docker and Kubernetes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Google Cloud Professional Cloud Engineer or other relevant GCP certifications.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Cloud Monitoring, Stackdriver, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments.
- Experience with serverless architectures and event-driven systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Prior experience working in an agile development environment.
