Job Description

We are on the lookout for an exceptional Google Cloud Specialist to join our dynamic team in Clydebank Waterfront, Glasgow. This is a pivotal role for an individual passionate about architecting, implementing, and managing robust, scalable, and secure solutions on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP). As a Google Cloud Specialist at Career.zycto, you will be instrumental in guiding our cloud strategy, optimizing existing cloud infrastructure, and deploying innovative new services that leverage the full suite of GCP offerings. You will work closely with development, operations, and product teams to ensure seamless integration and performance of our cloud-based applications and data platforms.

Your day-to-day will involve a diverse range of activities, from designing highly available and fault-tolerant systems to automating infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles. We expect you to be a proactive problem-solver, adept at troubleshooting complex cloud issues, and committed to best practices in security, cost optimization, and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and highly available solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Architect and deploy cloud-native applications, data pipelines, and infrastructure using services like Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Functions, BigQuery, and Cloud SQL.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or Cloud Deployment Manager.
  • Ensure GCP environments adhere to security best practices, compliance standards, and internal policies.
  • Monitor GCP resource usage, performance, and costs, implementing optimization strategies where necessary.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate cloud solutions into existing CI/CD pipelines.
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to other team members on GCP best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud infrastructure and application issues.
  • Stay current with the latest GCP services, features, and industry trends, evaluating their applicability to our needs.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services (e.g., Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Cloud Functions, VPC).
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture principles, including high availability, disaster recovery, and scalability.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform.
  • Solid scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Go.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Cloud Build).
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies, especially Docker and Kubernetes (GKE).
  • Deep understanding of networking concepts in a cloud environment (VPC, VPN, Load Balancers).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Google Cloud Professional certification (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Cloud Developer, Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer).
  • Experience with hybrid cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Cloud Monitoring, Stackdriver, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Experience with database administration on GCP (e.g., Cloud SQL, Spanner, Firestore).
