Job Description
Are you a skilled wordsmith with a passion for securing vital funding that drives impact? Seed Co Zimbabwe is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Grant Writing Specialist to join our team, with the flexibility of a remote work option based in Karoi, Mashonaland West Province. In this crucial role, you will be instrumental in identifying, researching, and crafting compelling grant proposals that secure funding for our diverse range of agricultural research, community development initiatives, sustainability projects, and farmer empowerment programs. You will work closely with our project managers, researchers, and financial teams to translate complex technical information into persuasive narratives that resonate with potential funders, including foundations, government agencies, and international organizations. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive research to identify potential grant opportunities from local, national, and international sources aligned with Seed Co Zimbabwe's strategic goals and project needs.
- Develop, write, edit, and submit high-quality, persuasive, and compliant grant proposals, applications, letters of inquiry, and concept papers.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with project teams, finance, and senior leadership to gather necessary information, develop project budgets, and ensure accurate representation of project goals and outcomes.
- Manage the grant submission process, ensuring all deadlines are met and all required documentation is accurately provided.
- Maintain a comprehensive database of grant opportunities, submissions, awards, and reporting requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective funders, acting as a primary point of contact for grant-related inquiries.
- Prepare grant reports and presentations for funders, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements and communicating project progress and impact effectively.
- Stay informed about current funding trends, donor priorities, and best practices in grant writing and fundraising within the agricultural and development sectors.
- Contribute to the development of fundraising strategies and communication materials to support grant-seeking efforts.
Required Skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with a strong ability to craft compelling narratives.
- Proven experience in successful grant proposal writing and fund development.
- Excellent research skills, including identifying grant opportunities and gathering supporting data.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with grant management software/databases.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a remote team environment.
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Understanding of agricultural development, food security, or rural community development principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, International Development, Agriculture, or a related field.
- Master's degree or professional certification in Grant Writing, Fundraising, or Non-Profit Management.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse types of funders (e.g., government, foundations, corporate, international NGOs).
- Familiarity with the Zimbabwean agricultural sector and development landscape.
- Ability to adapt writing style and tone to suit different donor requirements and audiences.
