Job Description
We are seeking a highly creative and passionate Full-Time Graphic Designer to join our dynamic team at Masvingo Mirror. This pivotal role is crucial in shaping the visual identity of our newspaper across various mediums, including print publications, digital platforms, marketing collateral, and internal communications. The ideal candidate will be a conceptual thinker with a strong portfolio, capable of translating complex editorial and advertising concepts into compelling visual stories that resonate with our diverse readership. Key Responsibilities
- Design and layout newspaper pages, advertisements, special supplements, and feature articles for print.
- Create engaging digital graphics, banners, and multimedia content for our website, social media channels, and online campaigns.
- Develop visual concepts, graphics, and layouts for product illustrations, company branding materials, and promotional assets.
- Collaborate effectively with editorial, marketing, and sales teams to understand project requirements, translate briefs into creative solutions, and deliver high-quality designs on time.
- Ensure all designs consistently adhere to Masvingo Mirror's brand guidelines and maintain a cohesive visual identity across all platforms.
- Prepare final artwork for both print and digital publishing, meticulously ensuring technical accuracy and high-quality output.
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks efficiently and adhering to strict deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, design tools, software, and technologies to bring fresh and innovative ideas to the team.
- Provide constructive creative input during brainstorming sessions and actively contribute to the overall visual strategy and brand evolution of the publication.
- Assist in photo editing, retouching, and ensuring visual content meets publication standards.
Required Skills
- Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
- Strong understanding of typography, color theory, grid systems, and layout design principles for both print and digital media
- Excellent visual communication and conceptual skills with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and also thrive as part of a collaborative team
- A compelling online portfolio showcasing diverse graphic design projects and capabilities
- Proven time management, organizational, and project prioritization skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related creative field
- Minimum of 3 years of professional graphic design experience, preferably within the media, publishing, or advertising industry
