Job Description
We are seeking a talented and meticulous Part-Time Graphic Layout Technician to join our vibrant production team in Kingston, Jamaica. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the visual appeal and professional presentation of The Gleaner Company’s diverse range of publications, from our flagship daily newspaper to special supplements and digital content. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of graphic design principles, and proficiency in industry-standard layout software. As a Graphic Layout Technician, you will work closely with editors, photographers, advertising sales teams, and other designers to ensure the seamless integration of text, images, and graphics. Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute engaging page layouts for newspapers, magazines, and special publications using Adobe InDesign and other graphic software.
- Collaborate with editorial and advertising teams to ensure all content is accurately placed and visually appealing, adhering to company style guides and brand standards.
- Prepare high-resolution images, illustrations, and other graphic elements for print and digital use, ensuring optimal quality and resolution.
- Perform meticulous proofreading and quality checks on all layouts to identify and correct errors in typography, grammar, spacing, and image placement.
- Manage multiple layout projects concurrently, prioritizing tasks to meet strict daily and weekly deadlines.
- Pre-flight and package files for print production and digital distribution, ensuring all technical specifications are met.
- Maintain an organized archive of design files and assets, adhering to established file management protocols.
- Stay updated with industry trends, software advancements, and best practices in graphic layout and publishing.
Required Skills
