Job Description

Barham’s Farm is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Greenhouse Operations Aide to join our team in Rio Bueno, Trelawny. As a Greenhouse Operations Aide, you will be an integral part of our cultivation efforts, directly impacting the health and yield of our specialty crops. Your daily tasks will involve everything from planting and transplanting seedlings to monitoring environmental conditions, implementing pest control measures, and harvesting produce at its peak. This role requires close attention to detail, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cohesive team. Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily tasks related to plant care, including watering, fertilizing, pruning, and thinning.
- Assist with the planting, transplanting, and propagation of seedlings and mature plants.
- Monitor greenhouse environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and ventilation; report any discrepancies.
- Implement integrated pest management (IPM) strategies, including scouting for pests and diseases, and applying appropriate biological or chemical controls under supervision.
- Prepare growing media, pots, and planting beds according to crop requirements.
- Harvest crops at optimal ripeness, ensuring quality control and proper handling.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the greenhouse facility, including sweeping, washing benches, and sanitizing tools.
- Operate and maintain basic greenhouse equipment, tools, and machinery safely.
- Assist with minor repairs and general maintenance of greenhouse structures.
- Keep accurate records of planting dates, harvest yields, and pest observations.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to achieve production goals.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, standing for long periods, and working in varied temperatures.
- Basic understanding of plant care principles and horticultural practices.

Preferred Qualifications
