As a Produce Clerk, you’ll be the face of freshness, playing a crucial role in ensuring our customers always have access to the highest quality fruits, vegetables, and other produce items. Your day will be dynamic, involving everything from unpacking new deliveries and carefully arranging vibrant displays to maintaining cleanliness and assisting shoppers with their needs. You’ll learn the ins and outs of proper produce handling, rotation techniques, and visual merchandising that makes our section shine.
Beyond the physical tasks, this role is about creating an inviting and appealing shopping experience. You’ll be responsible for monitoring the quality and appearance of our produce, promptly removing any items that don’t meet our high standards, and ensuring all displays are well-stocked and visually appealing. Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and accurately unload produce deliveries.
- Stock and replenish produce displays, ensuring freshness, proper arrangement, and aesthetic appeal.
- Rotate stock meticulously to ensure product freshness, minimize waste, and adhere to FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles.
- Maintain impeccable cleanliness and sanitation standards in the produce department, including shelving, floors, coolers, and equipment.
- Assist customers courteously with product inquiries, locating items, and providing recommendations based on their needs.
- Monitor product quality and promptly remove any spoiled, damaged, or expired items from displays.
- Operate and clean equipment such as scales, juicers, and compactors safely and efficiently.
- Adhere strictly to all food safety and handling procedures, including temperature control and cross-contamination prevention.
- Assist with inventory management tasks, including stock counts and ordering, as needed.
- Contribute to a positive team environment by assisting colleagues and communicating effectively.
Required Skills

- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly and safely.

Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a customer service role, even if not grocery-related.
- Basic knowledge of different types of fruits and vegetables, their seasonality, and care.
- Food Safe Level 1 certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
