Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, and inspect incoming produce shipments for quality, freshness, and accuracy.
- Stock, rotate, and merchandise produce displays according to company standards and planograms.
- Cull, trim, and re-package produce to maintain optimal freshness and remove damaged or spoiled items.
- Ensure all produce storage and display areas are kept clean, organized, and properly sanitized.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering to prevent overstocking or shortages.
- Operate equipment such as pallet jacks, scales, and pricing guns safely and efficiently.
- Adhere strictly to all food safety, sanitation, and health and safety guidelines.
- Assist customers with product inquiries, special requests, and provide an excellent shopping experience.
- Maintain accurate pricing and signage for all produce items.
- Contribute to a positive team environment through effective communication and collaboration.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly and stand for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for quality and freshness.
- Basic math skills for weighing, pricing, and inventory tasks.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for teamwork and customer interaction.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures and product knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (6 months+) in a grocery, produce, or retail environment.
- Knowledge of various fruits, vegetables, and their proper handling/storage.
- Food Handler's Certificate or willingness to obtain one upon hire.
- Experience with inventory management and stock rotation.
- A passion for healthy eating and fresh produce.
