Key Responsibilities

  • Assist passengers with check-in procedures, baggage handling, and boarding, ensuring a pleasant and efficient travel experience.
  • Load and unload luggage, cargo, and mail onto and from aircraft, adhering to strict safety protocols and weight distribution guidelines.
  • Operate various ground support equipment, including tugs, baggage carts, and passenger steps, after receiving appropriate training and certification.
  • Guide aircraft to and from parking stands using marshalling signals, ensuring safe movement on the tarmac.
  • Perform routine aircraft cleaning and cabin preparation to maintain high standards of hygiene and presentation before departure.
  • Conduct thorough safety checks on equipment and operational areas, reporting any discrepancies or hazards immediately.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with flight crews, airport authorities, and other ground personnel to ensure coordinated and timely operations.
  • Respond to passenger inquiries and provide assistance with a professional and friendly demeanor, particularly for those who may require additional support due to language barriers or unfamiliarity with procedures.
  • Adhere strictly to all aviation security regulations, company policies, and health and safety guidelines.
  • Participate actively in ongoing training and development programs to enhance skills, adapt to new procedures, and foster career progression within the company.

Required Skills

  • Ability to lift heavy luggage (up to 23kg) and perform physically demanding tasks, often outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with diverse teams and passengers.
  • Strong teamwork ethic and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multicultural airport environment.
  • High level of attention to detail and a steadfast commitment to safety and security protocols.
  • Problem-solving abilities and a proactive attitude to address operational challenges efficiently.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as airport operations run 24/7.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a customer service role, preferably within the travel, aviation, or hospitality sector.
  • Fluency in additional languages beyond English, which would be a significant asset in assisting international passengers.
  • Familiarity with airport operations or general aviation industry practices.
  • A valid UK driving license or willingness to obtain one, as some roles may require operating vehicles on the airfield.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and operational systems.
