Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and seasonal grounds maintenance, including mowing, edging, weeding, pruning, and planting.
- Maintain shrubbery, flowerbeds, trees, and other plant life to a high standard, ensuring health and aesthetic appeal.
- Operate and maintain a variety of groundskeeping equipment, such as mowers, trimmers, leaf blowers, and hand tools.
- Manage irrigation systems, ensuring efficient watering and promptly addressing any malfunctions.
- Conduct minor repairs and maintenance on outdoor features, pathways, and estate infrastructure.
- Monitor the health of plants and turf, identifying and treating pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies.
- Implement sustainable landscaping practices and contribute to environmental initiatives on the estate.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and efficiently, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Assist with waste management, including composting and proper disposal of green waste.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inventory, and equipment servicing.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in groundskeeping or estate maintenance.
- Proficiency in operating a range of groundskeeping machinery and tools.
- Strong horticultural knowledge, including plant identification and care.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform strenuous outdoor tasks in various weather conditions.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations pertinent to grounds maintenance.
- Valid UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Horticulture, Landscaping, or a related field.
- PA1/PA6 certification for pesticide application.
- Experience with arboriculture or tree maintenance.
- First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of local flora and fauna relevant to the Glasgow climate.
