Job Description
Join Standard Lesotho Bank as a Groundskeeper and play a pivotal role in maintaining the beauty and functionality of our premises in Ha Matlosa, Mohale’s Hoek. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and proactive individual who takes pride in creating and maintaining pristine outdoor spaces. As a Groundskeeper, you will be responsible for the overall upkeep of our bank grounds, ensuring they are always clean, tidy, and aesthetically pleasing for our clients, staff, and the community.
Your daily tasks will involve a variety of horticultural and maintenance activities, ranging from meticulous lawn care, shrub and tree maintenance, to general landscaping and waste management. We are looking for someone who possesses a keen eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and a genuine passion for outdoor environments. Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular mowing, trimming, edging, and fertilizing of lawns and turf areas.
- Prune shrubs, trees, and hedges to maintain desired shapes and promote healthy growth.
- Plant and maintain flower beds, including watering, weeding, and pest control.
- Monitor and maintain irrigation systems to ensure efficient water usage.
- Keep pathways, driveways, and parking areas clean and free of debris, leaves, and litter.
- Operate and maintain landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools safely and effectively.
- Identify and report any signs of plant disease, pest infestation, or structural damage to outdoor facilities.
- Assist with seasonal clean-ups, including leaf removal and preparation for different weather conditions.
- Ensure proper disposal of green waste and other refuse in accordance with environmental guidelines.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace for tools and equipment.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance on outdoor structures as needed.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or horticulture.
- Knowledge of various plants, shrubs, trees, and their care requirements.
- Familiarity with operating and maintaining groundskeeping equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers).
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and aesthetics.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Basic understanding of health and safety practices related to grounds maintenance.
- Good communication skills to report issues and collaborate with team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in horticulture, landscaping, or a related field.
- Experience with irrigation system maintenance and repair.
- Knowledge of local flora and fauna in Lesotho.
