Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine mowing, trimming, and edging of lawns and turf areas to maintain pristine conditions.
- Execute planting, pruning, weeding, and watering of flower beds, shrubs, and trees.
- Operate and maintain a diverse range of groundskeeping equipment, including petrol-powered mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and various hand tools, ensuring their safe and efficient use.
- Conduct daily litter picking, waste removal, and general site tidiness to uphold cleanliness standards.
- Monitor and proactively address pest and disease issues impacting plant life, applying appropriate treatments.
- Carry out minor repairs and preventative maintenance on outdoor facilities such as pathways, benches, fencing, and signage.
- Prepare grounds for seasonal transitions, including comprehensive leaf clearance and winterization tasks.
- Ensure strict compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and company policies at all times.
- Assist with basic irrigation system checks, adjustments, and minor repairs.
- Promptly report any significant maintenance issues, equipment malfunctions, or potential hazards to management.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in groundskeeping, park maintenance, or professional landscaping.
- Proficiency in operating and safely maintaining a wide range of landscaping and grounds maintenance equipment.
- Solid knowledge of horticulture, including plant care, identification of common pests, and plant diseases.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong physical fitness and the capability to perform demanding outdoor tasks in varied weather conditions.
- A valid UK Driving License is essential for this role.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 in Amenity Horticulture or an equivalent vocational qualification.
- PA1/PA6 Pesticide Application Certificate.
- Experience with basic tree pruning and arboricultural tasks.
- Current First Aid certification.
- Previous experience working in a public park, leisure facility, or similar community-focused environment.
