Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and experienced Groundskeeper to join our dynamic team, focusing on park and facility maintenance within the Finaghy area of Belfast. Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular lawn maintenance, including mowing, edging, trimming, and fertilizing of turf areas.
- Cultivate and maintain flower beds, shrubberies, and other planted areas, including weeding, pruning, and mulching.
- Plant new flowers, shrubs, and trees as required, ensuring proper placement and care.
- Operate and maintain a variety of groundskeeping equipment and tools, such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools.
- Monitor the health of plants and turf, identifying and addressing issues such as pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies.
- Manage irrigation systems, ensuring efficient watering and promptly reporting any malfunctions.
- Conduct seasonal clean-up tasks, including leaf removal, snow clearing, and debris disposal.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance on outdoor facilities, pathways, fences, and fixtures.
- Ensure all grounds are kept clean, tidy, and free from litter and hazards.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and equipment maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients regarding groundskeeping activities.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in groundskeeping or landscape maintenance.
- Solid knowledge of horticultural practices, including plant care, pruning, and pest management.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining grounds maintenance equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers).
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Understanding of health and safety procedures related to groundskeeping.
- Full UK driving license with a clean record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Horticulture qualification or relevant certification (e.g., NVQ Level 2 in Amenity Horticulture).
- Experience with irrigation system maintenance and repair.
- Certification in pesticide application (PA1/PA6).
- First Aid certification.
- Experience operating specialist machinery (e.g., tractors, excavators).
