Job Description
Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and experienced Groundskeeper to join our dynamic team, focusing on the meticulous maintenance of parks and facility grounds within the Kinning Park area of Glasgow. As a Groundskeeper, you will be responsible for a wide array of tasks that ensure our green spaces are always presented to the highest standards. Your daily duties will encompass everything from routine lawn care and horticultural tasks to more intensive landscaping projects and equipment maintenance. We are looking for someone proactive, capable of identifying areas for improvement, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a small team. The successful candidate will be expected to operate various groundskeeping machinery safely and efficiently, adhering strictly to health and safety regulations at all times. Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular lawn mowing, edging, trimming, and weeding across all designated areas.
- Plant, cultivate, prune, and maintain trees, shrubs, flowers, and other plant life.
- Operate and maintain a variety of groundskeeping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools.
- Ensure pathways, car parks, and public areas are clean, safe, and free from litter or debris.
- Implement pest and disease control measures for plants as necessary.
- Conduct minor repairs to fences, benches, irrigation systems, and other outdoor fixtures.
- Monitor and report any hazards or maintenance issues promptly to management.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist with seasonal tasks such as leaf collection, snow removal, and grit spreading.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Groundskeeper or in a similar landscaping/maintenance role.
- Proficiency in operating various groundskeeping machinery and tools.
- Knowledge of horticulture, plant care, and common landscaping practices.
- Strong understanding of health and safety procedures related to grounds maintenance.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Excellent physical stamina and manual dexterity.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to work.
- Valid UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant horticultural qualification (e.g., SVQ, City & Guilds in Horticulture).
- PA1/PA6 certification for pesticide application.
- Experience with irrigation system maintenance.
- First Aid certification.
