Job Description
Phoenix Beverages Ltd is seeking a dedicated and experienced Groundsman to join our Facilities Management team in Vacoas, Vacoas-Phoenix. This vital role is central to maintaining the aesthetic appeal, safety, and environmental health of our expansive corporate and industrial grounds. As a Groundsman, you will be instrumental in ensuring that our outdoor spaces, including landscaped areas, pathways, and common areas, are consistently presented to the highest standards. You will be responsible for a wide range of horticultural and general maintenance tasks, working proactively to prevent issues and promptly addressing any concerns that arise. This position demands a keen eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to operate various gardening and maintenance equipment safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine lawn care, including mowing, trimming, edging, and fertilizing all grassed areas.
- Cultivate and maintain flower beds, shrubberies, and other planted areas, including planting, weeding, pruning, and mulching.
- Ensure pathways, driveways, and parking areas are clean, free of debris, and well-maintained.
- Operate and maintain a variety of groundskeeping equipment and tools, such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools, ensuring their proper function and storage.
- Assist with irrigation system maintenance, including monitoring, adjusting, and minor repairs.
- Perform general tidying and waste removal across the estate, including litter picking and bin emptying.
- Conduct minor repairs to fences, gates, outdoor furniture, and other estate fixtures as needed.
- Identify and report any issues requiring major repair or specialist attention to the Facilities Manager.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Monitor the health of plants and trees, applying treatments for pests or diseases as necessary.
- Assist in seasonal clean-ups and special projects as directed by management.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Groundsman, Gardener, or in a similar outdoor maintenance role.
- Solid knowledge of horticulture, plant care, and landscaping techniques.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining various gardening equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to perform strenuous tasks in various weather conditions.
- Understanding of health and safety practices related to grounds maintenance.
- Good communication skills and a cooperative attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant vocational training or certification in horticulture or landscaping.
- Experience with irrigation system management and basic repair.
- Knowledge of pest and disease control methods for plants.
- A valid Mauritian driving license (Class B or higher).
