Job Description

LUX* Le Morne is seeking a dedicated and experienced Groundsman to join our dynamic maintenance and estate team in La Gaulette, Black River District. In this vital role, you will be instrumental in maintaining the pristine condition and aesthetic appeal of our luxurious estate, ensuring that our landscapes, gardens, and outdoor facilities consistently meet our exacting standards of beauty and functionality. You will be a guardian of our natural environment, contributing directly to the serene and exquisite guest experience that defines LUX* Resorts. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine landscaping duties including mowing, weeding, pruning, planting, and mulching of lawns, gardens, and floral displays.
  • Maintain and repair irrigation systems, ensuring optimal watering schedules and efficient water usage for all plants and lawns.
  • Operate and maintain various groundskeeping equipment such as lawnmowers, trimmers, edgers, blowers, chainsaws, and small tractors safely and effectively.
  • Monitor and address pest and disease issues in plants, trees, and shrubs, applying appropriate and environmentally friendly treatments when necessary.
  • Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of all outdoor areas, including pathways, common spaces, recreational facilities, and parking lots.
  • Assist with the setup and dismantling of outdoor events, decorations, and temporary structures.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance on outdoor furniture, fixtures, lighting, and other estate structures.
  • Implement waste management and recycling protocols for outdoor areas, ensuring proper disposal and environmental compliance.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, company policies, and best practices to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Report any damages, hazards, or urgent maintenance needs to the supervisor promptly and accurately.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 1 year) in groundskeeping, landscaping, or horticulture.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining a variety of grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of plant care, common pests, diseases, and their treatment.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high aesthetic standards.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Valid driving license for operating estate vehicles and equipment (if applicable).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification or diploma in horticulture, landscaping, or a related agricultural field.
  • Previous experience working in a luxury resort, hotel, or large estate environment.
  • Basic understanding of plumbing and irrigation system maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of sustainable landscaping practices and indigenous plant species of Mauritius.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and/or French.
