Key Responsibilities

  • Provide vigilant supervision and support to residents throughout the night shift, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Maintain a calm, secure, and respectful living environment, addressing any immediate needs or concerns promptly.
  • Assist residents with evening and morning routines as required, which may include personal care, hygiene, and preparation for the day.
  • Conduct regular checks on residents and the facility, documenting observations and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation, including incident reports, shift logs, and communication records.
  • Perform light household duties, such as tidying common areas, laundry, and ensuring cleanliness.
  • Administer medication according to prescribed protocols and complete accurate medication logs (with proper training and certification).
  • Implement individualized behavior support plans as instructed, de-escalating potential situations calmly and effectively.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with day staff during shift changeovers, providing comprehensive updates.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding resident information and adhere to all privacy regulations.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to work independently and responsibly during night hours
  • Exceptional observational and reporting skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to assist others
  • Reliability and strong work ethic
  • Basic computer literacy for documentation purposes
  • Valid Florida Driver's License and insurable driving record
  • Ability to pass comprehensive background checks and drug screenings
  • Physical capability to assist residents as needed and perform light duties

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
  • Previous volunteer experience in a caregiving, social services, or community support role
  • Some college coursework in psychology, social work, human services, or a related field
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm and resourceful in challenging situations
