Job Description

Sandals Resorts International is seeking an accomplished and strategic Head of Facilities Management to lead the comprehensive oversight of our magnificent property in Ocho Rios, Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica. This pivotal leadership role demands a visionary professional who will ensure the seamless operation, pristine condition, and long-term asset value of our luxurious resort. The Head of Facilities Management will be instrumental in upholding Sandals’ unwavering commitment to excellence, delivering an environment that is not only visually stunning but also safe, sustainable, and highly functional for our discerning guests and dedicated team members.

You will be responsible for developing and implementing a robust facilities strategy, encompassing all aspects of maintenance, repair, and operational efficiency across the entire property. This includes critical infrastructure such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, landscaping, pools, and all building systems. A key focus will be on proactive maintenance programs, optimizing resource allocation, and driving sustainable practices to minimize environmental impact while maximizing operational uptime. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive facilities management strategy aligned with company objectives and luxury hospitality standards.
  • Oversee all maintenance operations, including preventative maintenance programs for all resort infrastructure and systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, kitchens, pools, landscaping, civil works).
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of facilities professionals, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage the facilities budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness, resource optimization, and adherence to financial targets.
  • Implement and monitor energy management programs and other sustainability initiatives to reduce environmental impact and operational costs.
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and procurement processes for materials, equipment, and outsourced services.
  • Plan, manage, and execute capital improvement projects, renovations, and upgrades, ensuring minimal disruption to guest experience.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all local regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental protection laws.
  • Develop and implement emergency preparedness and response plans for facilities-related incidents.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential issues and ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, functionality, and aesthetic appeal.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in facilities management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven technical expertise across a broad range of building systems and infrastructure (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, civil).
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a large, diverse workforce.
  • Exceptional project management capabilities, including planning, execution, and oversight of capital projects.
  • Demonstrated ability in budget management, financial forecasting, and cost control.
  • Excellent vendor negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Proficiency in facilities management software (CMMS) and MS Office Suite.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental sustainability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Certified Facilities Manager (CFM) or other relevant professional certifications.
  • Experience in the luxury hospitality or resort industry.
  • Knowledge of Caribbean building codes and environmental regulations.
  • Experience with sustainable building practices and energy conservation initiatives.
