Job Description
We are seeking an accomplished and visionary Head of Retail Sales to lead our sales division in the Musanze region. This pivotal role requires a strategic leader who can drive aggressive growth, expand market share, and optimize sales performance across our extensive retail network. The Head of Retail Sales will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive sales strategies, managing key accounts, fostering strong relationships with retailers, and leading a high-performing sales team. You will be instrumental in identifying new business opportunities, analyzing market trends, and ensuring that our product portfolio reaches its maximum potential in the competitive Rwandan market. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic retail sales plans to achieve and exceed sales targets and market share objectives within the Musanze region.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of regional sales managers and sales representatives, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, expand the retail customer base, and strengthen relationships with existing key accounts.
- Oversee the entire sales cycle, from prospecting and negotiation to closing deals and post-sales support.
- Analyze sales data, market trends, and competitor activities to inform strategic decisions and optimize sales approaches.
- Manage sales budgets, forecast revenue, and ensure efficient allocation of resources to maximize profitability.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, logistics, and product development teams to ensure alignment of sales strategies with overall business goals.
- Ensure consistent implementation of company sales policies, pricing strategies, and promotional activities.
- Prepare and present regular sales performance reports, forecasts, and market insights to senior management.
- Drive continuous improvement in sales processes, tools, and training programs to enhance team effectiveness.
Required Skills
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in retail sales management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets in the FMCG or distribution sector.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a large sales force.
- Strong strategic planning and execution capabilities.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- In-depth understanding of the Rwandan retail market dynamics and consumer behavior.
- Proficiency in sales analytics, CRM software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong financial acumen and experience with budget management.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales & Marketing, or a related field; Master’s degree (MBA) is a significant plus.
- Experience managing sales operations across multiple districts or regions within Rwanda.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful market entry and expansion strategies.
- Existing network of relationships with key retailers and distributors in the Musanze region.
