Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive health and safety programs across the industrial estate.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, determining root causes and recommending effective corrective actions.
- Ensure strict adherence to local Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations (e.g., OSHA, Factories Act of Jamaica) and company policies.
- Prepare and deliver engaging safety training sessions and awareness programs for all levels of employees.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of safety inspections, incidents, training, and compliance activities.
- Advise management on health and safety matters, including new legislation, industry trends, and best practices.
- Manage and coordinate emergency response procedures, including regular drills and crisis preparedness.
- Implement and oversee hazardous waste disposal procedures in line with environmental regulations.
- Promote a proactive and positive safety culture through continuous communication, engagement, and leadership.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Health & Safety Officer, preferably within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, Jamaican OHS laws).
- Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies, hazard identification, and effective control measures.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing at all levels.
- Proficiency in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and comprehensive reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver impactful safety training programs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting.
