Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Health & Safety Officer to join our professional team, specifically overseeing an industrial estate in Mandeville, Manchester. As our Health & Safety Officer, you will work collaboratively with various stakeholders across the estate, including management, tenants, and operational staff, to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive Health & Safety policies and procedures in line with national and international standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with H&S regulations.
- Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near-misses, determining root causes and recommending preventative measures.
- Deliver engaging and effective H&S training programs for all staff and contractors within the industrial estate.
- Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Prepare and maintain detailed H&S records, reports, and documentation for internal review and external audits.
- Advise management on H&S matters, including legislative changes and best practice improvements.
- Develop and manage emergency preparedness plans, including fire safety, first aid, and evacuation procedures.
- Promote a positive safety culture through awareness campaigns, committees, and proactive engagement.
- Collaborate with tenants and external bodies to ensure a unified approach to safety across the industrial estate.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent recognized H&S qualification).
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience as a Health & Safety Officer, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Thorough knowledge of Jamaican H&S legislation and regulations.
- Proven ability to conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, and incident investigations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and report writing.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and educate at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent advanced H&S qualification.
- Experience with ISO 45001 or other integrated management systems.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience in an industrial estate management context.
- Knowledge of environmental management principles.
