Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health & Safety Officer to join our team, focusing specifically on our industrial estate operations in Irish Town, St. Andrew. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive Health & Safety policies and procedures for the industrial estate.
- Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with all H&S regulations.
- Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near-misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Organize and conduct regular safety training sessions for employees, contractors, and visitors on various safety topics, including emergency preparedness, first aid, and specific machinery operation.
- Ensure all plant, machinery, and equipment on site meet safety standards and are properly maintained.
- Manage the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) program, ensuring adequate supply, proper usage, and maintenance.
- Liaise with external regulatory bodies during inspections and audits, ensuring all required documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Promote a positive safety culture throughout the industrial estate through communication campaigns and engagement initiatives.
- Monitor and report on H&S performance, identifying trends and recommending proactive strategies for continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of all safety-related activities, training, incidents, and inspections.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Health & Safety Officer in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of Jamaican Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) legislation and regulations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
- Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with ISO 45001 implementation and auditing.
