Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management systems and policies in line with national and international standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across the industrial estate to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
- Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near-misses, determining root causes and recommending effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Lead and facilitate engaging HSE training programs for all levels of employees, contractors, and tenants within the industrial estate.
- Ensure strict adherence to all relevant occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Monitor and analyze HSE performance data, preparing reports and presenting findings to management to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to management and employees on all matters related to health, safety, and environmental protection.
- Manage emergency preparedness and response plans, including fire safety, first aid, and hazardous material spills.
- Foster a proactive safety culture through communication, engagement, and recognition programs.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to HSE activities, compliance, and training.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Health & Safety Officer in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of Jamaican occupational health and safety legislation and international HSE standards.
- Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and hazard identification.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to conduct thorough incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Proficiency in developing and delivering safety training programs.
- Demonstrated ability to implement and manage HSE management systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), NEBOSH Diploma, or equivalent internationally recognized safety qualification.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience working with diverse industrial tenants or stakeholders.
