Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive Health & Safety Management Systems (HSMS) tailored for an industrial estate environment.
- Conduct regular and thorough risk assessments, hazard identification, and safety audits across all operational areas within the industrial estate.
- Ensure strict compliance with local occupational safety and health legislation, as well as relevant international standards.
- Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, identify root causes, and recommend corrective and preventative actions.
- Develop and deliver engaging health and safety training programs for employees and contractors.
- Advise management on safety-related issues, ensuring that new projects, processes, and equipment adhere to safety standards.
- Prepare and maintain detailed safety reports, records, and documentation for internal review and regulatory submission.
- Manage emergency preparedness plans, including fire safety, first aid, and evacuation procedures.
- Promote a positive safety culture through effective communication, awareness campaigns, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Liaise with external regulatory bodies during inspections and audits.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Health & Safety Officer in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- In-depth knowledge of Jamaican Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) regulations.
- Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and hazard control principles.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or equivalent certification.
- Experience with ISO 45001 implementation and auditing.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
