Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting patients with personal care, including bathing, dressing, and hygiene.
  • Supporting patient mobility, transfers, and rehabilitation exercises.
  • Assisting with feeding and hydration, monitoring dietary intake.
  • Monitoring and recording vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and reporting changes to nurses.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
  • Aiding with continence care and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Providing emotional support and companionship to patients.
  • Communicating effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Adhering to all health and safety guidelines and organisational policies.
  • Assisting with the admission and discharge of patients.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Healthcare Assistant in a UK healthcare setting.
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Compassionate, empathetic, and patient-centred approach to care.
  • Proficiency in basic life support (BLS) and first aid.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection regulations.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with specific patient groups (e.g., elderly care, dementia, palliative care).
  • Additional clinical skills (e.g., venepuncture, catheter care) – with evidence of training.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends.
