Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with personal care, including bathing, dressing, and toileting, maintaining dignity and respect.
  • Support patient mobility, assisting with transfers, walking, and using mobility aids safely.
  • Help patients with feeding and hydration, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure, accurately.
  • Document observations and report any changes in patient condition or concerns to the nursing staff promptly.
  • Assist with the administration of medication under the direct supervision of a qualified nurse.
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe environment for patients.
  • Support patients with their emotional and social needs, promoting independence and well-being.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety, safeguarding, and infection control policies and procedures.

Required Skills

  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal, with excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrable empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to care.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow instructions and care plans accurately.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification).
  • Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant or in a similar care role.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid certification.
  • Experience with electronic patient record systems.
  • Understanding of person-centred care principles.
