Job Description

Melia Zanzibar is actively seeking a diligent Full-Time Healthcare Support Worker to join our vibrant medical team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in assisting our on-site medical professionals to ensure the health, comfort, and safety of our international guests and valued staff members. As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will be at the forefront of providing crucial non-clinical support, assisting with essential daily tasks, and maintaining a high standard of care and hygiene within our resort’s medical facility. Your responsibilities will range from preparing consultation rooms and monitoring supplies to offering basic first aid assistance under supervision and providing a comforting presence to those in need. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the on-site nurse or doctor with daily tasks, including preparing examination rooms, sterilizing equipment, and organizing medical supplies.
  • Provide basic first aid and emergency support under the direct supervision of qualified medical personnel.
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels of medical supplies, ensuring availability and proper storage.
  • Assist guests and staff with mobility and personal care needs as required, ensuring comfort and dignity.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards of the medical facility, following established protocols.
  • Accurately record and document patient information, observations, and care provided.
  • Offer compassionate support and a calming presence to guests and staff experiencing illness or injury.
  • Facilitate communication between patients, medical staff, and other resort departments.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, resort policies, and ethical guidelines.
  • Support in administrative duties as necessary to ensure smooth operation of the medical facility.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a caregiving, support, or hospitality role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English.
  • Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency response procedures.
  • Exceptional empathy, patience, and a caring attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • High level of discretion and respect for patient confidentiality.
  • Physical stamina and ability to assist with patient mobility when needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A certificate or diploma in healthcare support, nursing assistant, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a hotel, resort, or tourism medical setting.
  • Additional language proficiency (e.g., Swahili, German, French, Italian).
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR.
