Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility, while respecting their privacy and dignity.
  • Support individuals with their daily living activities, promoting self-care and fostering independence whenever possible.
  • Monitor and accurately record vital signs, observing for any significant changes in patient condition and promptly reporting concerns to senior nursing staff or supervisors.
  • Aid with feeding and hydration, ensuring strict adherence to dietary requirements, preferences, and any swallowing precautions.
  • Provide compassionate emotional support and engaging companionship, actively listening and creating a positive, comfortable, and reassuring environment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards within patient living areas and ensure a safe and organized care environment.
  • Assist with basic medication administration under direct supervision of a qualified professional and strictly in accordance with established protocols and training.
  • Document all care provided, observations made, and any changes in condition accurately, clearly, and in a timely manner according to organizational guidelines.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, company policies, and best practice procedures to ensure the well-being of both patients and staff.
  • Collaborate effectively and professionally with other healthcare professionals, family members, and caregivers to ensure comprehensive and holistic patient care plans are followed.

Required Skills

  • Proven empathy, compassion, and a genuine desire to care for individuals with diverse needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and listen actively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (e.g., 6 months or more) in a healthcare support role, such as a healthcare assistant, caregiver, or home health aide.
  • Certification in First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) is highly desirable.
  • Relevant vocational qualification or certification in health and social care.
  • Familiarity with local community resources and healthcare facilities within the Ado-Ekiti region.
