Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy goods vehicles (HGV) to transport goods across designated routes.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, documenting any defects or issues.
- Ensure all loads are properly secured and comply with safety regulations.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Maintain accurate driving logs, delivery records, and complete necessary paperwork.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers.
- Assist with loading and unloading goods as required, ensuring proper handling.
- Report any accidents, incidents, or mechanical issues promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle.
- Follow delivery schedules and routes efficiently to meet deadlines.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) / HGV License
- Clean driving record with no major violations in the past 3-5 years
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliability and punctuality
- Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics and maintenance for minor troubleshooting
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Familiarity with local and regional routes in the Hollywood, Florida area
- Experience with various types of freight and cargo securement methods
- Proficiency in using GPS and navigation systems
