Are you an experienced Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) driver looking for a new opportunity to build a stable and rewarding career in Canada? Career.zycto is actively seeking dedicated and safety-conscious HGV Drivers to join our dynamic team, specifically welcoming applications from foreign-trained professionals ready to make Westfort, Thunder Bay, their new home. As an HGV Driver with us, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of goods across various distances, primarily within and around the Thunder Bay region. Your day-to-day will involve pre-trip and post-trip inspections, securing cargo, maintaining accurate logbooks, and adhering to all traffic laws and company policies. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV) for the transportation of goods.
  • Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and cargo.
  • Ensure cargo is properly secured and protected to prevent shifting or damage.
  • Maintain accurate logbooks, trip reports, and other required documentation.
  • Adhere to all provincial and federal transportation laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and team members.
  • Report any vehicle malfunctions, accidents, or incidents promptly.
  • Plan routes and meet delivery schedules efficiently.
  • Handle freight and assist with loading and unloading when necessary.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class 1/A driver's license (or equivalent HGV license from your home country, with willingness to obtain Canadian equivalent).
  • Minimum 2 years of verifiable HGV driving experience.
  • Clean driving record (abstract) and criminal record check.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks required for the job, including lifting and securing cargo.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Strong understanding of road safety regulations and procedures.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience driving in cold weather conditions or diverse terrains.
  • Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
  • Additional endorsements for specialized cargo (e.g., hazardous materials).
  • Knowledge of Thunder Bay and surrounding area routes.
  • A positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
