As an HGV Driver with us, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of goods across various distances, primarily within and around the Thunder Bay region. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV) for the transportation of goods.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and cargo.
- Ensure cargo is properly secured and protected to prevent shifting or damage.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, trip reports, and other required documentation.
- Adhere to all provincial and federal transportation laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and team members.
- Report any vehicle malfunctions, accidents, or incidents promptly.
- Plan routes and meet delivery schedules efficiently.
- Handle freight and assist with loading and unloading when necessary.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 1/A driver's license (or equivalent HGV license from your home country, with willingness to obtain Canadian equivalent).
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable HGV driving experience.
- Clean driving record (abstract) and criminal record check.
- Ability to perform physical tasks required for the job, including lifting and securing cargo.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and procedures.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience driving in cold weather conditions or diverse terrains.
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Additional endorsements for specialized cargo (e.g., hazardous materials).
- Knowledge of Thunder Bay and surrounding area routes.
- A positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
