Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) in accordance with all UK driving regulations and company policies.
- Conduct thorough pre-journey vehicle checks, ensuring the HGV is roadworthy, secure, and compliant with safety standards.
- Efficiently load, unload, and secure goods, ensuring proper weight distribution and adherence to delivery schedules.
- Accurately complete all necessary delivery paperwork, including manifests, logbooks, and defect reports.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and team members regarding delivery status, delays, and any issues encountered.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance requirements.
- Adhere strictly to Working Time Directive regulations and tachograph laws to ensure compliance.
- Represent Career.zycto and our client companies professionally at all times, upholding our reputation for excellence.
Required Skills
- Valid UK HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) or Class 2 (Category C) licence (or equivalent international licence transferable to UK standards).
- Valid Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
- Digital Tachograph Card.
- Minimum 2 years of professional HGV driving experience.
- Strong understanding of UK road safety regulations and driving laws.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional demeanour.
- Ability to work independently, manage routes efficiently, and adhere to tight schedules.
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written) to facilitate clear communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various types of HGV vehicles and trailers (e.g., curtainsiders, flatbeds, refrigerated units).
- Previous experience driving in the UK or similar European road conditions.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and fault finding.
- A clean driving record with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Forklift licence or experience in warehouse operations.
